SIAM Activity Group on Geosciences

Welcome to SIAG GS

The SIAM Activity Group on Geosciences provides an interactive environment wherein modelers concerned with problems of the geosciences can share their problems with algorithm developers, applied mathematicians, numerical analysts, and other scientists. Topics of interest include flow in porous media, multiphase flows, phase separation, wave propagation, combustion, channel flows, global and regional climate modeling, reactive flows, sedimentation and diagenesis, and rock fracturing.

SIAG GS is growing. We currently have over 320 members, up from 250 in 2005.

The activity group organizes a biennial conference. The next SIAG GS conference will be held at the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research in Leipzig, Germany from June 14 till June 18 in 2009. More information about the conference is available from the menu item on your left.

We have added a Job Listings page (left menu). Please email us with job listings in the geosciences area to have them posted on our website.

Bear with us as we develop this website further. We hope you will find it informative. Don't hesitate to contact any of us with comments or questions.

Best wishes from your SIAG AG committee:

  • Chair: Margot Gerritsen, margot.gerritsen@stanford.edu
  • Vice-Chair: Jean Roberts, jean.roberts@inria.fr
  • Program Director: Todd Arbogast, arbogast@math.utexas.edu
