The Grassmann manifold GR_F(k,V) is a space which parameterizes all linear subspaces of V of dimension k over the field F. Theoretical underpinnings touch heavily on Lie theory, secant varieties, Schubert varieties, exterior algebra methods, as well as many other fields. There have been a wide range of applications including, but not limited to, subspace packings, statistics, coding theory, optimization, image processing, signal detection, and anomaly amplification. The mini session is meant to catalyze ideas by drawing on the expertise represented in diverse viewpoints of Grassmann manifolds.
