Yearly Planner

Year 1

  • Elected and term starts due January
  • Orientation meeting with SIAM staff due February
  • SIAM annual meeting
    • 2021: July 19-21
  • Conference/Business Meeting
  • SIAM Fellow nomination due October
    • 2021: October 20th

Year 2

  • Chair check-in with SIAM Staff + VP at Large
  • Set up a selection committee for the Early Career prize due April
    • 2021: April
  • Charter Submission due early May
  • Nominating Committee due mid-June
  • Charter approved at Annual Meeting, around July
  • Nominating Committee proposes candidates by late August/early September
  • Candidate statements collected September-October
  • Mid-October elections start
  • Late November elections end
  • Candidates publicly announced December before start of the new term

  • 2021 Sept 27-29 GD/SPM virtual conference and business meeting
  • 2022 minisymposium at the SIAM Annual Meeting
  • 2023 summer/fall GD conference possibly as part of the Geometry Summit

Early Career Prize
John Gregory Award
  • reviewed by SIAM leadership for approval.
  • Mid-career prizes require funds from the SIAG themselves to get off the ground, so it's more complicated.
